Higher Education Leaders Summit
New for Bett 2017, The Higher Education Leaders’ Summit has been developed to address some of the most significant challenges currently facing senior leaders across HE. Developed specifically for HE leaders, this summit provides a valuable opportunity to hear about and discuss the latest legislation updates, pedagogy and leadership strategies. The summit will offer the opportunity to learn from HE peers and experts both from the UK and abroad, sharing practical insights into the teaching and learning experience at universities across the world.
The summit will cover important topics such as the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), learning analytics and how to use them effectively in HE, traditional assessment methods and their suitability with modern pedagogy, and the evolution of learning spaces within the digital landscape and how we can ensure students stay safe online.

Wednesday 25 January
10.30-11am: Kieran Delaney, principal investigator at Nimbus Centre, Cork University of Technology
Building Communities of Practice for 21st Century teaching and learning: This session will present successful initiatives, built on Communities of Practice, to promote digital skills, creativity and innovation, and will also discuss ways to leverage new technologies such as ubiquitous computing, mobile computing and the Internet of Things.
12-12.30pm: Limor Harary, head of innovation and technology in education department, Gordon Academic College
Content creation apps for diverse learning styles: This session will address the diversity of student needs and approaches to learning, and the different applications that can be used to support them. Examples and case studies of student success and progress will be shared.
Thursday 26 January
12.30-1pm: Linda Waller, lecturer/coordinator of Latin American business studies, Avans University of Applied Sciences
International cultural integration in the classroom: Cooperating with partner schools, the university has introduced online lectures through Skype, guest lectures and student international interaction. Linda will explain how they have been able to integrate technology and internationalisation into the classroom.
1.30-2pm: Anne-Gaelle Colom, senior lecturer at the University of Westminster
Computer Programming for the visual learners: This presentation will demonstrate a code visualising tool developed at the University of Westminster that is designed to help visual learners engage with computer programming. The tool analyses code entered and shows graphically in real-time how it flows.
Friday 27 January

Blended learning 2.0: This session will present a variety of tools that can be used both within and beyond the classroom environment.
