Infor, a leading provider of  business applications specialised by industry and built for the cloud, have this week announced an agreement with the University of Hull. The agreement will see the university adopt Infor’s Cloudsuite Industrial Machinery solution, allowing students to gain experience in using a leading-edge technology platform while developing real-world skills and expertise in the field of manufacturing and logistics.

The University of Hull chose to partner with Infor’s Education Alliance Program (EAP) in order to support its industry engagement across the Humber region.  The region’s manufacturing and distribution businesses are seeing radical digital transformation in the quest to modernize operations, and in line with this, there is an urgent need to ensure future employment skills and demand are met.

Spanning five undergraduate courses including eBusiness and Supply Chain Integration; Inventory and Transportation Management; Procurement and Supply Chain Management; Supply Chain Modelling and Analysis; and Information Systems in Accounting and Finance, and three masters courses in Supply Chain Planning and Control; Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management; and Corporate Performance Analysis, the agreement is expected to help equip students with the skills and experience required to embrace digitalization as they enter industry.

From modelling and analysis to planning and control, providing our students with advanced knowledge in logistics and supply chain management is a priority for the Logistics Institute. As a result, our students can add real benefits to business organizations when they take their knowledge into the workplace. - Prof. Amor Ramudhin, Director, Logistics Institute

“We are delighted to welcome The University of Hull to our Educational Alliance Program,” comments Mark Stewart, Director, Infor Education Alliance Program, EMEA. “As a leading higher education institution in the UK, Hull is at the center of ushering in the next generation of talent for this critical region, the UK and internationally, and we are delighted to be supporting the team in its quest. Through providing Infor’s CloudSuite Industrial Machinery ERP solution, together with real world support and resources, we look forward to helping students develop the skills in technology and digitalisation that modern employers are looking for.”

Professor Amar Ramudhin, Director of the Logistics Institute at the University of Hull says, “From modelling and analysis to planning and control, providing our students with advanced knowledge in logistics and supply chain management is a priority for the Logistics Institute. As a result, our students can add real benefits to business organizations when they take their knowledge into the workplace. We also equip them with a wealth of other transferable skills that will make them an asset to their employees.  Infor solutions have been known for their strengths in the logistics field. By familiarising themselves with this platform and others, they will acquire the digital skills and a comprehensive understanding of core applications designed to boost performance and efficiency that are so valued by the world of business.

“Our partnership with Infor is just one of the many ways that we work towards making our graduates work-ready with an impressive range of transferable skills.”
