A year is a long time in education. That’s if Lumi’s activity in the sector over the past 12 months is anything to go by.
A year ago we launched our student response platform, Meetoo, onto the education market at the Bett Show. After six months it had been used by over 600 educational establishments in 40 countries with adoption continuing to grow at a speedy pace.
Meetoo is a simple but effective way to energise lectures and classes, encourage interaction and ensure students stay engaged. It is designed to be used by lecturers and teachers in further and higher education using the communications tool students feel most comfortable with; their mobile phone. When students at the University of Central Lancashire were asked to compare a lecture using Meetoo and one without, 88% said that using Meetoo meant they were more engaged with the topic.
During the year we’ve also been listening to customer feedback and making ongoing enhancements. For example, users, including those with Macs, can now insert live polls into PowerPoint presentations even during a lecture and see the results displayed in real-time using an add-in which can be downloaded directly from the Microsoft Office store. Another small but important revision; lecturers can now give students the correct answer after polls and quizzes – all helping them to improve information retention.
Meetoo is also one of the platforms especially selected by Genee World for its customers, and is featured in its app store.
However, there’s one development that will be of interest to all educators struggling with budget cuts, Meetoo is now available on a ‘Freemium’ basis in the education sector – that is free-of-charge for up to 100 students per class.
Looking back, it’s been a busy but exciting year. So we’re looking forward to this year’s Bett Show and introducing even more students and lecturers to Meetoo in the year to come.
