Talis Insight Europe 2017, a free two-day conference, welcomes library leaders and professionals in higher education, to explore the role of libraries in the institutional strategy and impact of technology on learning and teaching. This is the third time Talis have hosted this annual conference which will take place once again at The REP in Birmingham on 25 - 26 April 2017.
Bill Rammell, vice chancellor at the University of Bedfordshire is the opening keynote speaker. Later on day one, Mark Toole, Head of Libraries and Learning Resources at Nottingham Trent University, will be hosting a Higher Education Leaders discussion panel. The panel includes Dr Joanna Newman, VP (International) from King’s College London, Stephanie Marshall CEO of the Higher Education Academy, with more panelists to be confirmed shortly. The current confirmed speaker line-up also includes Ian Snowley, University Librarian at the University of Lincoln, and Rosie Jones, Director of Library Services at the Open University.
There will be talks from the Talis team, including a keynote from CEO David Errington who will be sharing our vision and future direction. Over the two days, sessions will also include a combination of further updates from Talis as well as presentations with contributions from the Talis User Group community, exchanging ideas and best practices.
The awards dinner on the evening of the first day will provide delegates with a chance to network and interact and an opportunity to see the Talis Aspire Community’s achievements.
Last year we welcomed 160 delegates and 47 speakers and this year we are set to host even more delegates from 80 HE institutions from across Europe. With over 30 sessions, the event promises to have something in store for everyone who is involved in supporting learning and teaching in HE.
Talis support universities in eight countries, including over 60% of all UK universities, to manage and deliver learning resources online. Talis services integrate with all major ILS and LMS solutions together with a range of authentication services, reproduction rights organisations, bookstores and providers. The cloud-based SaaS system hosts nearly 500,000 reading lists, with over 20 million references, serving in excess of 176 million views of reading lists by students each year.
