Dublin City University launches online degrees for lifelong learners
DCU has announced a series of online courses, from microcredentials to postgraduate degrees
Dublin City University (DCU) has announced it will launch a series of short and longer accredited courses online, aimed at working professionals and global learners.
Courses will be delivered via social learning platform FutureLearn, as part of a global strategic partnership.
Professor Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl, associate professor at DCU, said: “The future of work is changing rapidly. Working professionals need opportunities to learn which respond to the challenges of flexibility, access and relevance.
“We are excited about what we can learn from global learners and how we can improve the design and support of digital learning on a global scale.”

The courses were announced as part of the Leading Learning Futures Forum on 12 June at DCU. The forum aims to provide a global perspective on the future of higher education, and how Ireland can respond to and harness its opportunities.
DCU’s partnership with FutureLearn will operate through the National Institute of Digital Learning (NIDL) at the university.
