NEW ISSUE: ET June is here!
This jam-packed edition focuses on all things STEAM, and includes an exclusive interview with Pixar co-founder Loren Carpenter!
It could be argued that STEAM is the education buzzword of the moment, but what does it really mean? In this issue we delve into various aspects of the STEAM movement, and speak to experts from throughout the sector for their views.
One such expert is prolific programmer, inventor, and Oscar-winner Loren Carpenter, co-founder of the Pixar animation studio. In our exclusive interview with him on page 34, we talk to Loren about his own education journey, his recent work with Immersive VR Education, and what he thinks of VR as an educational tool.
Another amazing interview lands this month in the form of Tom London, Hacker/Magician extraordinaire, and inspirational speaker from Wired’s Next Generation event. We speak to Tom about determination, tinkering, and following your dreams on page 5.
Our roundtable this month focuses on what schools and universities are doing to emphasise the connection between STEM and the arts, starting on page 41, and our feature on page 57 looks at educational apps and how this tech is no longer just for STEM. Page 53 is home to our view into how traditionally ‘serious’ subjects such as coding and engineering are embracing their creative side, and we review where 3D printing is sitting within the education world on page 49.
Of course we still have all the latest news from the primary, secondary and HE sectors, starting on pages 8 and 16 respectively. And don’t forget, we’ll now be coming at you once a month, so you get twice as much ET!
All this, and lots more inside the mag!
