With less than 6 months until GDPR becomes a reality, what steps have KYOCERA taken to become GDPR compliant?
The advice we provide to our customers is based on the same experience we’ve gone through ourselves.
To save yourselves a lot of time and stress later, it’s vital you first conduct a thorough audit of all existing data practices, policies and equipment within your organisation. Once complete and you have a clear understanding of what is where, use encryption as a means to safeguard against the loss of personal data. It’s one of the key technologies highlighted within GDPR to be used across PCs and laptops, so don’t forget that data stored on printers should also be encrypted to limit the impact of a breach.
It’s also essential that your staff understand the ground rules set out by the regulation and that non compliance could result in substantial fines. It’s about building up internal awareness – everyone will use the printer at some point but they may not be aware the data they’re printing can be stored.
