Tech coaching programme launched in US schools

The programme is supported by Google and Digital Promise, and aims to deliver support for digital skills in schools

Dynamic Learning Project (DLP), a technology coaching programme, has been launched in partnership with Google and Digital Promise to support digital skills in US schools.

Run by professional development company EdTechTeam, the programme addresses issues of technology use, equity, and career readiness in schools across the US through a challenge-based model. It aims to help schools build and strengthen tech coaching programmes, and provides classroom coaches to give teachers hands-on support to improve students’ digital skills.

Jennie Magiera, EdTechTeam’s chief programme officer, said: “Better technology coaching is directly related to better learning. But the value of coaching reaches far beyond the classroom.”

The programme consists of:

Research-driven coaching model and curriculum
A coaching model developed by Jennie Magiera, to provide a structure and graduate-level curriculum to support teachers to coach students on technology use.

Dedicated coaching mentor
1:1 meetings with a coaching mentor, to enhance teachers’ coaching impact, and to support school leaders’ transformation efforts through regional consultation.

Custom programme app and research data
The app enables coaches to document meetings and collect data during classroom visits. It also allows administrators to easily access and review teachers’ progress and delivers research reports compiled by Digital Promise on the programme’s impact.

Summer coaching conference
A two-day hands-on conference at Google for teachers and administrators to learn about the coaching model, hear from speakers, and network with peers.

EdTechTeam is currently accepting schools for the 2019/2020 DLP cohort. Teachers and school leaders can learn more and get in touch at dynamiclearningproject.com
