Teaching and Learning technology conference Talis Insight Europe 2019 returns for a fifth year

Talis Insight Europe 2019 is now in its fifth year of running, and we will again explore the most important topics surrounding technology in higher education. The two-day event takes place at The REP Theatre, Birmingham on the 30 April and 1 May. 

As well as seeing some great talks from higher education leaders and library professionals, it’s a fantastic opportunity to network with peers and find out what others are doing to tackle the challenges facing libraries today and in the future. Last year, we saw attendees from over 80 institutions from across Europe.

You will see some great talks from your peers in university libraries on their experiences of working with Talis Aspire. There will also be plenty of networking time, so it’s a great opportunity to find out what others are doing to tackle the challenges facing libraries today and in the future.

Some highlights are:

● We will kick off the conference with keynote: ‘Digital Transformations at The University of Lincoln’, from Andy Beggan, dean of digital learning.

● ‘Diversity in the curriculum’, two librarians and two student diversity mark officers from the University of Kent will explore how they approached their project to diversify the curriculum and their findings.

● Jane Secker, senior lecturer in educational development, at City, University of London, and Chris Morrison, copyright and licensing compliance officer at the University of Kent, will be presenting a session on ‘Copyright and licensing developments in UK universities’. 

● We have announced 11 sessions from our Talis Aspire User Group community. These sessions are submitted and presented by our users on a range of topics from student experience to data migration. These sessions give great insight into how universities are using Talis Aspire to achieve different goals within the library and beyond, and how they tackle the challenges along the way.

● We will be hearing an introduction to Talis Elevate from learning technologies lead at Talis Matt East and a session from pilot user Jamie Wood from the University of Lincoln.

In the evening of day one, we host the Talis Awards, an opportunity for us to celebrate success within our global community over the past 12 months. We will be presenting five awards, for universities that have shown excellence in marketing and engaging academics, universities that have shown excellence in implementation and management. 

We will also be awarding a University of the Year award, for a university that has shown all-round dedication and excellence in the use of Talis Aspire. This year we will be adding a new award, the Talis Advocate of the Year, to highlight achievements of one special person in our user community. 

Our Talis Aspire User Group award is nominated and voted for by our user community and celebrates creativity in using Talis Aspire.
