Cambridge Assessment English, a department of Cambridge University, has collaborated with Microsoft to create Adventures in English with Cambridge, a new game in the Minecraft Marketplace that helps children to learn English.
Children can use the interactive world to learn new words, get creative, and solve problems. The game was designed to support young learners practice their English language skills in a fun, interactive, and immersive way.
As more and more Minecraft players and families download educational maps to play at home, we are excited to offer this top-tier language learning content to the broader Minecraft community. This world takes English language immersion beyond the classroom into a magical Minecraft library full of mini games, with a fairy sidekick. Players everywhere are going to love it – Allison Matthews, head of Minecraft Education
Adventures in English with Cambridge is the first education game available to buy in the Minecraft Marketplace. The end of 2021 saw the game win gold in K12 category at the Reimagine Education awards, the biggest awards ceremony for global educational innovators.
Creators of the interactive world are the same experts who produce the Cambridge English Qualifications, taken by millions of people every year around the world.
The game utilises real-life communication and vocabulary skills at a level equivalent to A1 and above of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the international standard for describing and comparing language ability.
“Adventures in English with Cambridge has been built in Minecraft to help children learn English while playing a game they love,” commented Belinda Cerdá, Head of Digital Partnerships at Cambridge Assessment English. “Young learners exploring our world will be able to practise their English skills, have fun and start a learning adventure they will never forget.”
Adventures in English with Cambridge can be played on any device including desktops, tablets and games consoles.
