A new online chief technology officer (CTO) programme has been released by the University of Cambridge and Emeritus, designed to support the next generation of tech leaders in the UK and around the world.
The executive education team at the Cambridge Judge Businesses School co-designed the CTO programme with Emeritus in a bid to bring the face-to-face teaching experience to senior executives across the globe.
The academics involved in the creation of the programme specialise in everything from the effectiveness of new product development processes and the role of operations in entrepreneurial growth, to cultivating a culture of innovation.
The programme aims to prepare digital and technology specialists for senior leadership roles and will be delivered online to allow cohorts of students from around the world to build their networks.
The programme comes as data shows UK investment in technology is at a record high, with the third highest level of investment in the world.
Priced at £17,000, the programme lasts between nine and 12 months and consists of five core modules on the essentials of being a CTO alongside two elective modules that students can specialise in. Prospective CTOs can take part in modules on everything from new product development to innovation in the digital age, to tech policy and the regulatory environment.
The programme finishes with an event in Cambridge, helping participants to continue to grow their network and meet world-renowned experts in technology leadership.
Christoph Loch, professor of operations and technology management, and the programme’s faculty director, said: “Modern CTOs are expected to articulate a vision of how innovation and technology can be used to reimagine their organisation. Technical expertise is essential, but it must be paired with robust strategic thinking, business acumen and interpersonal skills to deliver results.
“We at Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education are excited to launch this impactful programme to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and capabilities to thrive as a CTO today.”
The programme will start in July 2022, and enrolment is now open.
