One Young World, the global community for young leaders, and learning company Pearson, have announced the launch of the One Young World Academy – an online learning platform to help empower future young leaders across the global workforce.
The Academy aims to help young leaders tackle some of the biggest challenges facing our world – focusing on environmental integrity, economic viability, and a just society.
The first phase of the Academy, starting in early 2023, will see learners offered three courses focusing on:
- Tackling climate change
- Peacebuilding and conflict prevention
- Diversity and inclusion
The courses are designed to be practical and project-based, featuring lectures from world leading experts on environmental, social and governance issues.
Throughout their journey, learners will be supported by colleagues and One Young World ambassadors serving as project mentors, giving learners guidance and feedback on their coursework.
These courses are also designed to help future leaders gain the knowledge and the know-how to solve business-critical challenges, leading to outcomes that accelerate the impact to build a fair and sustainable world.
It is hoped that the Academy will be an opportunity for enterprises to empower their workforce to make real change while building a strong and collaborative culture of learning.
Starting in early 2023, employers can take out a subscription to the Academy on behalf of their employees.
Beyond making a real work impact, learners who complete a course will also receive a recognised credential badge from Credly, anchored in the blockchain, which they can add to their LinkedIn profiles and online CVs.
Kate Robertson and David Jones, One Young World co-founders, said: “One Young World Academy powered by Pearson is designed around what we know young leaders want and need to improve their ability to make an impact with their work.
“With over a decade’s experience developing young leaders and our Community’s world-leading expertise, and Pearson’s leading reputation as a learning provider are providing an unmissable online learning experience for young people who are taking action to build a fair and sustainable world.”
The Academy was officially launched today (8 September 2022) by Pearson’s Mike Howells and One Young World co-founders Kate Robertson and David Jones at the annual One Young World Summit, taking place this week in Manchester.
