Digital manufacturer, PPDS, has donated five of its Philips professional displays to the Salvation Army charity, with the aim of encouraging educational opportunities and lifelong learning in the community.
Leger des Heils – the Dutch arm of the Salvation Army – has seen the displays installed in five of its local community centres in the towns of Utrecht and Ridderkerk, replacing an assortment of flipcharts and blackboards.
“We’re providing staff and communities with an advanced education toolkit to help them provide a service befitting of their incredible efforts, for a seamless, deeper learning experience for the people they’re supporting,” said Martijn van der Woude, director international business development, PPDS.
The displays are being used to support everyone from school children – in the form of additional learning and collaborative opportunities that may not be available at home – to senior citizens honing computer skills, literacy, maths, nutrition and healthy eating, dealing with stress, and so forth.
“This partnership with PPDS means having a beautiful touch display in the middle of the community centre that gives us so many new possibilities,” said Eline Kraaijveld, coordinator at Bij Bosshardt Ridderkerk, Leger des Heils.
“We can use it for social activities, organise Dutch classes with a digital support, display music or videos, and share moments that have impact on people’s lives.”
