Big data launch in Amsterdam

The University of Amsterdam is starting a research project on the use of big data within companies and governmental institutions

A survey has been set up in cooperation with ORTEC Consulting Group to gather information about the adoption and implementation of big data applications among businesses.

The research project focuses on the factors that influence the success rate of a big data strategy, the role of scientific institutions in the big data industry, and ways in which the use of big data can be stimulated.

The study will also address how companies attract and retain skilled programmers and analysts who are specialised in the field. The project’s data collection phase will last until the 19th of September. Preliminary results will be published at the end of October.

Michael van Duijn, CEO ORTEC Consulting Group: “One of ORTEC’s greatest assets is our intellectual capital. We have the statisticians, the modelers, the programmers and the analysts. Partnering with universities strengthens our knowledge and helps us give back to society.”
