European Edtech Network to launch during London Edtech Week

Europe’s first collaborative edtech network will be the first organisation of its kind to enable transnational cooperation among European universities and innovators

London Edtech Week (17–24 June) will host the launch of the first ever European Edtech Network (EETN), from HE partners across the continent.

The EETN is funded by Erasmus+, and run in partnership between four European higher education institutions: UCL (UK), the University of Oulu (Finland), KU Leuven (Belgium) and IE Business School (Spain).

An Edtech Platform will be a major part of the EETN collaboration. It will be the first online space of its kind to promote knowledge on edtech topics, and to increase the use of quality digital tools in European education systems, including HE institutions.

UCL’s Educate will host the official launch of the network on 19 June, during London Edtech Week. The launch event will include speeches and panel discussions involving numerous industry names, including:

  • Angela McFarlane, education expert
  • Katy Fryatt, founder and CEO of Learnit
  • Vic Vuchic, chief innovation officer at Digital Promise Global and executive director of the Learner Variability Project
  • Avi Warshavsky, CEO of MindCET
  • Cyril Ghanem, head of business development of AppScho
  • Leila Guerra, assistant dean of programmes at Imperial College Business School

Discussions during the event will be chaired by Professor Rose Luckin, founder and director of UCL Educate, and former UCAS CEO Mary Curnock Cook.

Professor Wim Van Petegem, policy advisor learning technologies in the Faculty of Engineering Technology at KU Leuven, said: “The EETN is a great opportunity for European universities and companies – big or small – in the edtech industry to network, share, and cooperate.

“The project will help us to enhance and enrich our experiences in the edtech sector, from research, to innovation, to business. Together we can make a difference in the edtech scene and improve education all over Europe – and beyond.”
