Finalists of Nordic Edtech Award 2019 revealed

Five finalists from Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland are in competition for the award

The finalists of the Nordic Edtech Award 2019 have been revealed.

The awards final will be held at the XcitED edtech event in Helsinki on Wednesday 20 November.

Five finalists from Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland are in contention for the award which will be judged by a jury of educational experts.

The award was launched in 2017 when the Nordic Edtech Alliance was established to help support and bolster the profile of Nordic edtech developments internationally. One finalist is picked from each of the five constituent members of the alliance.

The winner will gain a place at the 2020 Milken-Penn GSE Education Business Plan Competition in Philadelphia, the final of the EdtechX Global series in London next year and the xEdu Spring 2020 program in Helsinki.


List of nominees:

Denmark – PeaQs by Artventure
A digital learning tool for business education which is accessed via browser. Peaqs enables project-based learning in an collective online ecosystem and couples it with a digital stock market where others students can critically asses peer projects and invest in the start-up projects/strategies that impress them.

Finland – Elias Robot by Elias Robot
This project helps students learn languages by facilitating conversations with human-like robots and voice user interface.

Norway – MagiMake by Ludenso
This 3D-modelling tool for cross curricular work is tailored to kids and can be used on PCs, tablets and phones.

Sweden – Humly (Studentvikarie Sverige AB)
A digital marketplace where schools quickly can get in touch with flexible educators and access a digital toolbox so that they are given the best possible opportunity to make a difference in the classroom.

Iceland – Mussila by Mussila Music School
A music-learning app, teaching kids to play classical music through gamification, keeping them motivated to learn more.
