Six people working in education have become the first to complete a self-explanatory new qualification, teaching teachers to teach online (TTTOL).
Sarah Farr was among the cohort. “[The course] provided a fantastic opportunity to refresh my knowledge in current academic research surrounding teaching online and technologies that can be integrated into an online lesson,” she said.
TTTOL is an ATHE Level 4 qualification comprising 10 units, commissioned by Wey Education, and aimed at educators looking to enhance both CPD and online teaching skills.
Areas covered include pedagogies for online learning, the differences between the online and classroom environments, helping students outside of mainstream education, and developing key skills in the use of tech.
“The units I found most useful were ones allowing us to collaborate with and learn from other teachers,” said Hannah Devery, another of the first half-dozen course graduates. “We observed and gave lessons to one another, allowing us to learn from each other in a unique way. It is not a course for the faint-hearted, however I am glad to have completed it and feel far more competent in my online teaching skills now.”
