Head to the Creative Quarter

Young people from 13-19 will be offered the chance to explore life and careers in the creative industries at Creative Quarter

Young people between the ages of 13 and 19 are being offered the chance to explore life, work and careers in the creative industries at Creative Quarter, a special day of free events in Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London, on Friday 28 November.

Seven leading science and art institutions are opening their doors with a busy programme of 60 talks, workshops and behind the scenes tours with some of the UK’s leading creative and scientific professionals. The events offered cover five core areas: art and architecture; fashion; music and drama; science and technology, and are ideal for KS4 and KS5 students.

Creative Quarter is designed to showcase the latest developments in the creative industries, and give an overview of the different education and career paths available.

The venues are Christie’s South Kensington, Imperial College London, Kensington Palace, Natural History Museum, Royal Albert Hall, Science Museum and the V&A. They will open their doors for talks, hands on workshops and ‘behind the scenes’ tours

Other events cover such topics as exhibition design, computer coding and material science.

Emily Candler, Executive Director at Exhibition Road commented: “This is an unbeatable opportunity to help young people with their future education and career choices, through an insight into what life and work in the creative industries is really like.

“We have lined up an extraordinary programme of events, which will give visitors the chance to create, explore and experiment for themselves in different areas of expertise. We hope schools will make full use of the opportunities available,” she said.

Workshops include ‘Code Builder – Think, build, create’, how to create multimedia exhibits, Framestore – The Makers of Gravity, Digital Design from Kano and ‘Photography for Magazines’.

Creative Quarter, now in its ninth year, is organised by the Exhibition Road Cultural Group (ERCG), which champions and represents eighteen major cultural and educational institutions in Exhibition Road, London.

Advance booking is essential. For a full schedule, visit https://www.exhibitionroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Creative-Quarter-Full-Programme.pdf
