Arden University, experts in online and flexible learning, has embarked on a joint venture with apprenticeship providers Digital Native UK to launch a degree apprenticeship starting in January.
October’s announcement of Andy Street’s West Midlands Apprenticeship Promise revealed that Birmingham is the UK’s largest technology hub outside of London and is on course to become a world leader in the digital sector. With over 13,000 technology start-ups opening in the region, there is an increased demand for digital skills to deliver a specialist workforce.
The new joint Digital and Technology Solutions degree apprenticeship is open for applications now and will help employers upskill new and existing employees to meet these needs. The vocational work-focused degree will be delivered by Arden University via its online learning facility and accompanied by face-to-face coaching and support, provided by Digital Native.
This partnership will provide an invaluable mix of knowledge and industry expertise and provides learners with the necessary skills to progress their career whilst being coached by industry experts.
Stacey Allen, Director of Corporate Partnerships at Arden University, said: “The promise made by Andy Street could not have come at a better time; we had already recognised the need for digital upskilling in the region and are hopeful the new degree apprenticeship will provide employers with a solution to tackle the current and upcoming demand.”
“Work-based learning is crucial to ensuring that employers can see these new skills come into fruition immediately. By partnering with Digital Native UK, we can help businesses grow and retain their existing talent but also help diversify career choices beyond the traditional university degree.”
Learners are required to take three days out of the workplace per month to complete the degree apprenticeship over the duration of three years.
Arden University also offer degree apprenticeships in MBA and Chartered Management, in addition to a range of distance or blended learning courses. Many of their courses are career-focused and are often accredited by professional bodies.
