October edition of IET is out now!

The October issue of Independent Education Today magazine is now available to download from our website and app store

The new academic year is well underway and the weather is turning – are you thinking about escaping to sunnier climes? In one of our special features this month I take a look at the different ways school trips can enrich a child’s academic and cultural education.

Back in the UK, we also delve into furniture and storage solutions, including a dining room makeover at St Swithun’s where pupils got to have a say in the design.

The recent ITV documentary ‘School Swap: The Class Divide’ got us talking about how state and private schools can share expertise, values and facilities to give pupils a great start in life. Author Mark Peel discusses this opportunity further on page 12 while law firm Stone King delves into the facilities debate on page 24.

As always, the issue is packed with insight from fellow schools, legal and finance experts and our regular columnists. We also welcome new contributor Empiribox who are starting a revolution in science teaching – see page 28. There are plenty of opportunities for CPD coming up, too – our events roundup starts on page 42.
