Unit4, a fast growing leader in enterprise applications for service organisations, today announced that London’s Royal College of Music (RCM), a world leader in music education, has selected Unit4 Student Management, the world’s first next-generation student management solution, to further enhance the student experience and improve institutional productivity.
Delivered via the cloud on any device, Unit4 Student Management will provide a consumer-grade digital experience across the entire academic lifecycle including vital interactions such as sending applications and accessing student records.
The Royal College of Music trains and nurtures gifted musicians from all over the world for international careers as performers, conductors and composers. Both the Complete University Guide’s Arts/Music Institution League Table and the QS World University Rankings named RCM the top UK conservatoire, and it is also ranked first in the 2016 Guardian University League Table for music.
To meet the demands of a new generation of students, and maintain its high standards and reputation in this area, the College embraces digital technologies.
“We selected Unit4 Student Management because we want to communicate with our prospective and existing students on their terms, using digital technology,” said Elly Taylor, Academic Registrar at the Royal College of Music. “Social and mobile is at the core of the technology and that was important to us. Managing campus life shouldn’t be an inconvenience. Student Management will provide a better student experience all-round through much easier two-way interaction.”
As well as 850 students, the solution will be used by more than 50 staff including academics and professors. Its web interface and flexibility mean that Student Management will be used seamlessly with the College’s virtual learning environment; academics will be able to view and mark coursework in the virtual learning solution and at the same time automatically populate students’ records in Unit4 Student Management with results, students will then be able to view progress online.
Founded in 1882, the Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world-leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. Our 800 undergraduate and postgraduate students come from over 60 countries and are taught in a dynamic environment, leaving the RCM to become the outstanding performers, conductors and composers of the future.
“We are delighted to be working with the Royal College of Music,” said Derren Nisbet, Managing Director for Unit4 in the UK&I. “Generation Z and fee paying students have greater digital expectations than ever before and the college has realised it can enrich the experience for students in many areas. We are seeing this across the market and Unit4 is now the only vendor capable of delivering a truly digital student management system.”
