Salford launches marketing MOOC

Free online course launched by pan-European University Consortium

A pan-European university consortium, led by the Salford Business School at the University of Salford, is tackling the digital skills gap with the launch of a new Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) ‘Digital and Social Media Marketing‘. The course is designed to allow individuals and businesses to analyse, plan, execute and evaluate digital marketing activities.

The new ‘Digital and Social Media Marketing’ MOOC is a direct response to this challenge. It is aimed at individuals and business new to the world of digital marketing but have a basic understanding of social media and the role of social networks in business marketing. The course teaches much-sought after skills such as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Social Media Optimisation, Affiliate Marketing and more. It puts a strong focus on real-world industry examples and hands-on learning.

Led by Salford Business School, the course is funded with support of the European Commission. It has been developed and will be delivered through a pan-European partnership, which includes Kaunas University of Technology, University of Lodz, University of National and World Economy (UNWE) and CITY College, in consultation with digital marketing recruitment agency, The Candidate Ltd

The course will be delivered online for free by European MOOC provider, Iversity. Dr Aleksej Heinze, Senior Lecturer at Salford Business School, said: “The online marketplace has no conventional country boundaries.
