Lewis Pacelli, who is about to complete a broadcast journalism degree, and Andy Taylor, who has been studying English, have launched Down the 18th as a company to provide audio and visual support to golfing organisations.
The duo, who have worked with the Staffordshire County Golf Partnership, describe themselves as young writers with fresh ideas trying to create, a unique outlook on the sport. Highly commended in the same category was Sue Greenwood, senior lecturer in journalism at the University, who helped Lewis and Andy to set up their website.
Lewis said: “We are stunned – mainly because we are final year students up against professionals. This started off as a simple blog and now who knows where it can go.”
Sue, a former deputy news editor at The Sentinel, Stoke-on-Trent, has been at Staffordshire University for more than six years, specialising in web journalism, web-tech start-ups and entrepreneurial journalism.
After a glittering awards night at Villa Park, Birmingham, Sue said: “It’s fabulous to be Highly Commended but it’s even more fabulous to be Highly Commended alongside two students as winners. I am very proud of Lewis and Andy.”
