Hosted by Talis, this free two-day event will take place at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham on the 15 – 16th April 2015.
Day One should be of particular interest to anyone interested in education technology. The key themes include impact of digital strategies on higher education, learning analytics, eTextbooks and student experience. The conference showcases a speaker line-up that includes several thought leaders in technology enhanced learning across the UK higher education sector.
David White from University of the Arts London and popular for his “visitor vs. residents” idea, will be speaking about learning and teaching in the ‘Post-digital’ era. Simon Thomson, Head of e-learning at Leeds Beckett University, will reflect on how his institution defined, developed and embedded digital literacy as a graduate attribute. If that does not whet the appetite of learning technologists, the focus shifts to learning analytics in the afternoon. Richard Maccabee (ULCC) will be hosting a panel session on learning analytics with panelists: Mark Stubbs (Manchester Metropolitan University), Sheila MacNeill (Glasgow Caledonian University), Niall Sclater (consultant to JISC) and Adam Cooper (CETIS).
If you are coming from an academic library, you will hear from the likes of Kitty Inglis. As a Librarian at University of Sussex, and a SCONUL Executive, Kitty will be speaking about the impact of digital on higher education from a library perspective. eTextbooks have been a hot topic in the UK. Four major pilot programmes for provisioning free eTextbooks for students, will come together at this event. Cathy Walsh, Director of Library and Learning Services, joins from University of East London. Matthew Lawson, Deputy Director of Library and Student Support, and Paul Howell, eBooks Project Officer, jointly represent Middlesex University. Phil Vaughan, University Librarian, will join from Coventry University. Phil Gee, Sr. Lecturer in Psychology, from Plymouth University completes the quartet. They will be speaking about their respective eTextbooks pilots, and join a panel session facilitated by Suzanne Tatham, Academic Services Manager, from University of Sussex.
