Do you know your MOOC from your SPOC, and what’s the difference between e-learning and m-learning? Read the latest UB to find out

UB Editor Rebecca Paddick recounts the last month in HE.

This month, I had the pleasure of attending Bett, Europe’s leading learning technology conference and exhibition. Year-on-year, Bett provides an environment for educators to keep up to date with the latest learning innovations. Now in its 32nd year, the four-day event has once again provided education professionals with an opportunity to see, touch and test the latest and most groundbreaking technologies, providing them with a taste of how these can be used to revolutionise learning.

Among many key topics, educational leaders discussed what’s next for technology in higher education, and how can we use it to further enhance teaching and learning. Read my review of this year’s show on page 56.

Despite the developments at Bett, the HE sector still has a long way to go to fully integrate technology across campus to help boost the student experience

And on the subject of edtech, do you know your MOOC from your SPOC, and what’s the difference between e-learning and m-learning? Despite the developments at Bett, the HE sector still has a long way to go to fully integrate technology across campus to help boost the student experience. So UB has put together the Edtech Glossary (p.61) to help you maneuver through the acronyms and to provide some much-needed support to those who are not so comfortable with the rapidly evolving world of educational technology.
