The Education Show is back, but for the first time ever it is moving to London with the new date of 24–25 January 2019, sitting alongside leading edtech show Bett. It takes on a whole-school approach, with suppliers and content appealing to school leaders, business managers and practitioners, whether from schools or academies.
Educators can take the opportunity to view products, see practical demos, and quiz suppliers to ensure they get the best products for their needs, from furniture and classroom equipment to school business tools and teaching materials. The range on offer includes: publishers and teaching texts from Prim-Ed Publishing, TJ Publishers, Phonic Books, Maths No Problem and Bloomsbury; teaching and student materials from Staedtler, Edding and The Consortium; recruitment assistance from Reed and Governors for Schools; a drive to help improve teaching and educational standards from OCR examination board and Primary Science Teaching Trust; wellbeing and PSHE teacher resources from the likes of Coram Life; furniture, classroom and outdoor equipment suppliers like Morleys, Advanced Furniture, Eden Learning Spaces and Playtime by Fawns, while Ideal Building Systems provide modular building for expanding schools, plus there are industry giants such as YPO, Kidzania and Pearson Education.
Along with education suppliers, the Education Show will offer more than 40 sessions of CPD talks and seminars in three new topic areas: policy in practice, school business and pedagogy in practice. Speakers on the Policy in Practice stage will examine the latest policy developments and contextualise the meaning and application of them in an everyday setting. Sessions will include funding, mental health, safeguarding and social mobility, to teacher wellbeing and the recruitment crisis. The School Business stage is where visitors can hear the success stories of schools who have effectively saved time, money and energy in an effort to run more efficiently. These case studies will delve into how to profitably run a school or sixth form college as a business, from best practice in procurement to managing facilities seamlessly. Pedagogy in Practice content is designed to help schools develop whole-school approaches and rounded curricula with hours of evidence-based methods shared which can be immediately applied. It will include case studies and the latest research in learning and neuroscience, popular pedagogies, and internal CPD practices. Speaker highlights include how Drew Povey of Educating Greater Manchester championed an organisation with the largest debt in school history, with more down-to-earth advice from the brilliant TES teacher winners; Jane Nolan, Headteacher of the Year, Steve Cook Creative School of the Year, and James Hollinsley, Employer of the Year. There is also insight to be had from international practitioners, with Nordic teachers in the spotlight sharing education trends plus ideas on how to revive your budget.
