Top explorer will inspire at Bett 2014

Sir Ranulph Fiennes will share stories of his inspirational career at Bett 2014, the world’€™s largest technology in education show

Sir Ranulph is one of the keynote speakers at the free to attend show, which returns for its 30th year, from 22 to 25 January 2014 at London ExCeL.

During his session in the Bett Arena on the 24 January at 15:15, he will be discussing how technology linked him and his team from Antarctica to 43,000 schools in the UK.

Described by The Guinness Book of World Records as ‘the world’s greatest living explorer’, Sir Ranulph Fiennes epitomises determination with his ‘can-do’ attitude. For 40 years he has lived through countless life-threatening experiences including: navigating the White Nile in a hovercraft; parachuting onto Europe’s highest glacier; forcing his way up 4,000 miles of the mightiest rivers of Canada and Alaska; trekking on foot unsupported to the North Pole and along with his companion, Charles Burton, became one of the first men in history to reach both Poles.

In his latest expedition, The Coldest Journey, he and his team connected with more than 100,000 schools around the world; engaging millions of children throughout their challenge.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes commented: “I look forward to interacting with teachers at Bett and sharing my experiences, which I hope will inspire visitors to challenge themselves and their students. Our aim with the education programme, was for students to learn that the challenges which come with seeking out the unknown can be overcome and are worth the risk. While we’re not all braving the cold of Antarctica, many of us are exploring in other ways; a new school maybe? A new culture perhaps? Whatever the challenge, the principle is the same.”

Sir Ranulph Fiennes will be in the Bett Arena on Friday 24 January 2014. His session, ‘Beyond the Limits’ will take place at 15:15 – 16:00.

Bett 2014 takes place at ExCeL London from 22-25 January 2014 and is free to attend. The show brings together more than 35,000 visitors and 700 exhibitors; for more information or to register, please visit www.bettshow.com.
