MAT launches bespoke digital platform for CPD

Dixons Academies Trust says its new digital platform will aid school leaders in helping overcome economic and social disadvantage

Dixons Academies Trust (DAT) has launched its own digital platform in a bid to boost the professional development of school and trust leaders.

Dixons OpenSource, Insight and Onsite offers a mixture of free and paywalled content, with the open source element containing the majority of the resources being made available and which, says DAT, “codifies our culture into watchable, listenable bites”.

These include a series of videos designed to offer high-level thinking on culture, together with practical lesson-level examples. Users can also request entry to two further portals.

Dixons Insight provides access to virtual live events, executive Q&As and leadership resources, while Dixons Onsite is a “bespoke and in-depth offer tailored to where you are on your journey of organisational change”, including in-person visits from Dixons leaders.

The trust says that any proceeds from its new initiative will be directly reinvested into generating further content for the open source element of the platform.

Taken as a whole, DAT claims the new digital resource will not only act as a “Netflix for professional development,” but ultimately improve the educational outcomes of pupils in the most disadvantaged areas.

Luke Sparkes is deputy chief executive of the multi-academy trust, serving 15 schools across West Yorkshire and the north-west.

“We know that the key to enduring, transformative change in a school lies in the quality and depth of its culture, and the behaviours and habits that take place every day, at every level, creating the ecosystem that enables excellence to take root,” he said. “Culture is the amplifier of everything else.

“With Dixons Insight and Dixons Onsite, our focus is on supporting school improvement through precise implementation of cultural change, ensuring it takes root and embeds. That is how, together, we can challenge economic and social disadvantage.”
