Karabo Sankoloba, (21), was presented with the DLD CIFE College Award by Lord Lexden OBE at a ceremony held at the House of Lords.
The event is hosted by the Council for Independent Further Education (CIFE) annually to celebrate the fantastic achievements of students throughout the academic year.
Karabo was selected by the Westminster Bridge-based college for both his academic and extra-curricular success throughout 2015/2016.
He gained GCSE results which placed him in the top ten candidates in Botswana and a well-deserved scholarship brought him to study in the UK at DLD. Blessed with an outgoing personality, boundless energy and a desire to gain as much as possible from his UK education, Karabo proved to be an exceptional student in all his subjects and a great asset to the DLD community.
With a remarkable track record of 100% in five Maths modules in Year 12, Karabo has all the hallmarks of an outstanding mathematician. His A-level grades of A* in Maths, Further Maths and Physics, and grade A in both Chemistry and Economics fully illustrate his academic ability and huge potential.
Karabo managed his academic commitments whilst making a generous contribution to college life. He had a great sense of fun, employing his musical ability in the ukulele and vocal groups, and all college functions. His well-developed people skills made him a clear choice for student ambassador and a popular college Valedictorian.
Upon receiving the award, Karabo said: “DLD College was more than just a school for me, it was like a second home. My peers and the staff were like a second family one that I am proud to have been part of. I will forever cherish the time I spent there."
